In July 1976, Howard D. Thomas, founder of the Cast Bullet Association, sent a group letter that became the first CBA Newsletter. He shared insights from attending an American Single Shot Rifle Association shoot in Indiana, highlighting that most rifles were from the Schuetzen era with custom molds and breech-seated bullets. Rifles used high-powered scopes, and the popular caliber was 32-40. Loading was meticulous, with no fixed ammunition. Thomas emphasized the importance of perfect bullet molds and encouraged members to submit their targets for review.
